Résumé :

Phytochemical substances extracted from plants or other living organisms are used as a basis for a great number of pharmaceutical products and are the source of characteristic colours, flavours and aromas found in a number of foodstuffs. They are also the basic materials of perfumes and fragrances.  Solvent extraction is the most common method used to obtain natural substances. In use for thousands of years, this method has greatly benefited from scientific and technological advances made over the past century.
