Résumé :

Over the past ten years, there has been growing interest in the food and pharmaceutical sectors in the use of "probiotics" (Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus), i.e., lactic cultures with beneficial health effects

Unlike other natural health products, the benefits of probiotics are amply documented in the scientific literature. Probiotics often have immediate health effects against certain common diseases, including irritable bowel syndrome, which affects 12% of the Canadian population. The effectiveness of probiotics in neutralizing the virulence of a number of pathogens has also been demonstrated. The best documented effects are undoubtedly improving the digestion of lactose and controlling diarrhea and flatulence, in addition to providing an immune-boosting effect. Probiotics may also have potential body care applications, including the treatment of cavities, perspiration and certain skin problems.
